In Germany, Mardi gras is called Fasching. To promote this holiday in the Alpine Village of Helen, Georgia, the Faschingsverein Helen will be tubing down the Chattahoochee River – rain, sleet or snow! We will leave the Helendorf River Inn at 1:00 PM for a parade around town (complete with a band!), entering the river at the Riverbend Motel on River Street. Take out for the tubers will be at the Festhalle. Later that evening, the group will be hosting a Fasching party, beginning at 7:00PM at the Helendorf.
